DALLAS, TEXAS — January 12th, 2005 — Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. (NYSE:ETP) and Atmos Energy Corporation jointly announced today that they have entered into an agreement to construct a natural gas pipeline north of Dallas/ Ft. Worth for the purpose of providing producers in the Ft. Worth Basin with pipeline capacity to reach markets on both the Atmos and the Energy Transfer pipeline systems. The pipeline will also provide a significant amount of supply for the growing demand for natural gas north of the metroplex.
Under the agreement the two parties will construct approximately 45 miles of 30-inch pipeline connecting the Atmos 24-inch pipeline north of Ft. Worth to the existing Energy Transfer and Atmos pipeline systems in western Collin County. In connection with this project, both Energy Transfer and Atmos will contribute upstream and downstream capacity on their respective systems to provide shippers with a conduit to access the new pipeline and the ability to deliver gas to downstream markets.
“This agreement expands Energy Transfer’s ability to provide Ft. Worth Basin producers with the needed pipeline capacity out of a very constrained area,†said Roy Patton, Energy Transfer Vice President, Commercial Operations. “With this project, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to the producing community to expand downstream market opportunities.â€
Based on an extensive amount of right-of-way work completed to date, the pipeline is anticipated to be completed by the end of this year and will have initial capacity of 200 MMcf per day of throughput with the capability to be expanded to 500 MMcf per day.
