TXOGA Lone Star Energy Forum Features Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Honors Industry Titans Rick Muncrief and Kelcy Warren

CEDAR CREEK – The Texas Oil & Gas Association’s (TXOGA) Lone Star Energy Forum at the Hya􀆩 Regency Lost Pines today showcased the Texas oil and natural gas industry’s global energy leadership that has made our nation and the world cleaner, stronger and better than ever before.

“The United States–led by Texas–is the world’s number one producer of oil and natural gas and that standing directly contributes to stability in an increasingly volatile world, where energy security is a necessity, not a luxury,” said TXOGA President Todd Staples. “At home, the Lone Star State’s unmatched energy production, transportation and refining capacity advance our nation’s energy security every day. As a trusted ally to our trade partners and the nation’s leading LNG exporter, Texas is constantly innovating and investing in the energy and infrastructure that strengthen economies, protect the environment and power the world.”

Staples continued, “Experts at this year’s Forum reinforced the fact that policies and politcs determine if our oil and natural gas industry can continue to deliver for America and our allies, or if we will be forced to depend on other nations for our energy needs. We have seen firsthand that limiting or rationing energy sources cripples economies, thwarts growth and puts communities at risk.”

This year’s Forum began with the presentation of TXOGA’s 88th Distinguished Service Awards to Rick Muncrief, President and Chief Executive Officer of Devon Energy Corporation, and Kelcy Warren, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Energy Transfer.

“The Distinguished Service Award is one of the oldest and most prestigious honors bestowed on members of our industry,” said Trevor Rees-Jones, Chairman of Chief Oil & Gas and Chairman of the Distinguished Service Award Committee. “Since 1936, the awardees have been chosen by industry leaders for their extraordinary contributions to the oil and natural gas industry and to the nation. We are proud to add Rick Muncrief and Kelcy Warren to these ranks.”

TXOGA Chief Economist Dean Foreman, Ph.D., shared an Energy & Economic Outlook over breakfast. As the Forum program continued, attendees heard from featured speakers including Anne Bradbury, CEO of the American Exploration & Production Council, and Jason Schenker, President of Prestige Economics and Chairman of the Futurist Institute.

The Forum culminated with a fireside chat with former Defense Secretary Robert Gates and TXOGA President Todd Staples, who discussed current events and the global energy climate.
