James R. (Rick) Perry
Mr. Perry was appointed to the Board of Directors of our general partner in January 2020. Prior to this, he served as the U.S. Secretary of Energy from March 2017 to December 2019, overseeing critical initiatives in energy innovation, national security, and energy policy. Mr. Perry’s distinguished public service career began in 1985 as a member of the Texas House of Representatives. From 1991 to 1998, he served as Texas Agriculture Commissioner, where he led initiatives that strengthened the state's agricultural economy. In 1998, he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Texas, a role he held until 2000, where he presided over the Texas Senate and played a key role in shaping the state's budget and legislative priorities. In 2000, Mr. Perry ascended to Governor and became the longest-serving Governor in Texas history, holding office until January 2015. As Governor, he led the state through periods of significant economic growth, championed energy independence, and advanced reforms in areas such as healthcare, education, and transportation. Mr. Perry’s deep expertise in executive leadership, fiscal management, and strategic oversight continues to be a valuable asset to our organization.
